Built for efficiency
Each BMW i3 is created in a specially-built plant in Leipzig, where, as well as using 70% less water and 50% less energy, wind turbines supply the plant’s own green energy.
From the earliest stages of the development process, we geared the entire vehicle concept to efficient and sustainable electric mobility. Wherever possible renewable and recycled materials help protect the environment and replace conventional materials such as plastic. The carbon fibres from which the BMW i3’s ultralight passenger cell is made are produced with energy generated entirely from renewables.
The Award-Winning BMW i3
The new BMW i3 94Ah was named as the winner of the 2017 World Urban Car Award at this year's New York International Auto Show.
The BMW i3 was also named winner of the Best Electric Car Award 2017 by Auto Express.
BMW i Range Extender
The pure electric BMW i3 provides real-world range of up to 125 miles, with 0g/km CO2. For travelling further afield, the Range Extender model covers up to 206 miles on one charge. The Range Extender includes a small, quiet 2-cylinder petrol engine that acts as a generator to power the battery, allowing the i3 to continue driving electrically when the battery level is low.
